This is a list of the web oriented activities I performed at Ford Motor Company.

Created Departmental Web Server.using the CERN Web Server as www.finance.ford.com. This server later became the Worldwide Finance server. Developed standards for publishing on the server. Created the directory structure for publishing. Created the Departmental Home Page, and Profit Systems pages. July 1996.

Migrated the server from a departmental server to a webfarm server in February 1997.

Created and maintained the PFx web pages for Ford Finance Department in support of the PFx Essbase Application. December 1996 until November 1998.

User Registration Request
A Perl Oracle database application that allowed potential users of a Worldwide Financial System to request access to the system, including areas of financial interest and the need for software installation. This application included significant edits of the user input data via JavaScript and the use of cookies. February 1997

Information Systems Requests
A Perl Oracle database application that allowed customers and systems staff to submit, update and report on all Information Systems Requests via the Ford Intranet. August 1997. Updated application in May 1998 to allow to multiple IS units to be displayed separately or for appropriate managers to view all IS units.

Finance Global Shared Drive
Perl application that allows users to upload files to the web server. Optionally, a secured directory restricted by userid can be built with an optional email notification to the users specified in the directory definition. Files are scanned for viruses using anti-virus software on the web server. Individual files are limited 5 megabytes and the total file sharing directory is limited to 750 megabytes, environmental variables that can easily be updated. Files are removed after 30 days. Updated all Perl applications to Perl 5.0 and to use cgi and dbi modules. March 1998

Java/JDBC.
Wrote standalone java programs for testing of Oracle JDBC for Finance Systems. Extensions to create servlets was cancelled due to problems with Oracle WebServer. May 1998

Finance Stock Price Reporter
An on-request application that reads the centralized Dow/Jones feeder file displaying the latest stock results for the major Automotive stocks and key stock indices. This was part of the Stockholder Value initiative of Alex Trotman, the previous CEO of Ford Motor Company. This cgi program became the template for all other Ford Intranet web sites for reporting of stock prices. April 1998

Hot Site of the Month
Received Ford Motor Company Hot Site of the Month award for the redesign of the Worldwide Finance Website in May 1998

Process Leadership Management Job Postings
Using the Unix Berkley Database, a Process Leadership Management Job Postings application was created that all specific Process Leadership managers to post (and update) management job postings that can be reviewed by all Ford Process Leadership personnel. June 1998

Finance Job Postings
Following the successful launch of the Process Leadership Management Job Posting application, a Finance Job Postings application was launched to post non-management jobs for all Finance positions. This was a major change in previous operations where job availability was based on a ‘who you know’ situation. September 1998
